The RCI Exchange System

The RCI Exchange System is a process where members exchange the Holiday Weeks they own for Holiday Weeks that belong to other RCI Members. What RCI has done is tailor-make the exchange process so that most of the work is done for you.

All you have to do is follow 3 simple steps:

More on the RCI Exchange

What Happens To Your Week After You Have Deposited

The Holiday Week you deposited goes into a central pool called the RCI Exchange Pool, which stores all the Holiday Weeks you and other RCI Members deposit with RCI.

When you request for an exchange, RCI’s computer taps into this pool of available weeks and searches for a suitable match to your request.

How The RCI Exchange Pool Works For You

RCI’s Exchange Pool maximizes your travel options. As RCI deposits from around the world daily, new holiday opportunities become available all the time.

On your request, the RCI system is also able to initiate a computer search, during which, what was not available initially may become available later when someone who owns at the resort where you are requesting for, deposits his Week into the Exchange Pool.

It is important to understand that what RCI can offer you at any time depends on what is available in the Exchange Pool at the time. The more deposits there are, the more holiday options RCI can in turn offer its members. This is why we encourage our members to deposit their weeks. This is why we encourage our members to deposit their weeks early, as this ultimately benefits all members in terms of greater holiday exchange options.

How the RCI Exchange System Matches Your Holiday Request

The RCI System operates on the principle of Fair Exchange. The Exchange Pool attempts to create an exchange by matching the value of your deposited Week to the value of your requested Week.

Each Week deposited is assigned a certain value, the sum of which is known as the Trading Power. This Trading Power is determined by a combination of the following:

  • How far in advance you deposit your Week
  • The supply, demand and usage of resort units at your home resort
  • The supply, demand and usage of resort units in the area where your resort is located
  • Comment Card ratings for your home resort. Comment Cards received from RCI Members staying at your resort impact future exchanges for all members
  • The accommodation size of the unit your own
  • The seasonal designation of the Week you own (Red, White or blue Week)

Flexible Planning and Travel

  • You can deposit your Week as early as 24 months in advance to 30 days prior to the start date of the Week you own. Plus, you have the opportunity to save and borrow weeks from one year to the next.
  • You can begin your exchange holiday, as early as 1 year before or up to 2 years after the start date of the Week you own. This 3-year travel window creates a maximum flexibility for you when planning your holiday.
  • RCI allows you to make an exchange request as late as 2 days before the date you intend to check-in. Last-minute travelers will appreciate RCI’s Late Exchange facility. However, if you make a late request, RCI can only offer you what is available at that point in time. Therefore, to realize specific holiday plans, we advise you to request early.

In the event that you want to cancel your confirmed exchange, please notify RCI immediately. If the cancellation notification is received
