Good thing the elephant's not real!

Our South African trip took a total of 12 days and in This short period of time; we witnessed how man could come together in perfect harmony with wildlife and nature.

After 3 days at Cape town, I, together with my wife, sister, and niece eagerly enjoyed our trip heading to our one week stay at Sun City Vacation Club thru RCI exchange. The Vacation Club, along with 4 other hotels, is inside a fully developed luxury resort called Sun City. Our 2-Bedroom condo unit #234 at Rhino Drive was cleanly furnished with full kitchen. The ground has nicely maintained landscape with ample parking spaces. You can see baboons and peacocks roaming around freely, just like domesticated animals. The Vacation Club reception center has a swimming pool, deli store, restaurant, business center and a video arcade. They also provided a free scheduled shuttle to a nearby supermarket outside the resort. We took this opportunity to cook our own food in most of our meals.

Sun City is so beautiful and lively that a one week stay won't make you feel bored. Casinos, restaurants, cinemas, convention center, shops, bookstore, pharmacy, crocodile farm, aviary, tours, car rentals, are some of the places and activities one can expect. As Vacation Club resident, we also enjoyed free access to the Valley of the Waves(Sun City Water Park). Sun City provides free shuttle bus and monorail for everyone to move around easily. This enabled us to appreciate every thing we want to see and do, including the other four hotels' (namely: The Palace- where one needs to pay US$10 as tour to enter except The Palace residents, Cascades, The Sun and Cabanas) amenities, views and sceneries.

On our sixth day, we decided to rent a car and enjoyed 6 hours inside the nearby Pilanesberg Wildlife Park, where zebras, wild boars, yaks, rhinos, buffaloes, African elephants, baboons, hippos, and various kinds of birds, to name a few, are nothing out of the ordinary.

  • My wife found a new pet. Too bad we can't bring it home! :)

  • Are you not going to let us in? Can't wait any longer... :)

  • I won! I won! Only in my dreams...

Next stop was the not so far away Lion Park where my Wife and niece enjoyed cuddling a lion cub without fear. After one week of endless happenings, we finally stayed 2 more nights in Johannesburg at Sandton City before going back home.

RCI gave us the opportunity to stay in Sun City for a whole memorable week. This is a place in South Africa that you shouldn't miss. It's a pity that we didn't bring along our kids with us.

So, South Africa, we'll be back!
