  • Swimming trunks ( Bikini ) – our resorts have wonderful swimming pools and it’d be a waste not to have a splash
  • Scarf / Shawl – for those chilly plane rides or to keep the wind out while making a fashion statement
  • Beach pants – they suit all types of in between weather

For the winter travelers

  • Jacket ( Wind breaker )
  • Gloves
  • Mittens
  • Sunglasses – don’t let the glare cripple your sightseeing moments

Basic documents could save you an unnecessary nightmare

  • Passport
  • Visas
  • Vaccination certificate
  • Insurance certificate ( Health Insurance card )
  • Paper from your local social insurance office
  • Cash
  • Credit/ATM cards ( Visa, Eurocard/Mastercard, American Express etc ) – we recommend only 2 at most
  • ID card
  • Address list (with phone numbers and email addresses)

Optional documents

  • Photocopies of passport and other important documents
  • International Student Identification Card ( ISIC ) – some places are awfully kind to students so we recommend embracing this and taking advantage of the god send which is student discount.

For carrying money and documents

  • Wallet
  • Money Belt – The inventor was a genius

  • Novels – for the solace moments on the beach
  • Guidebook – We love lonely planet
  • Maps

Miscellaneous equipment

  • Pens
  • Earplugs – these puppies come in handy when you want to catch a few winks on a noisy plane

Hygiene

  • Toilet bag
  • Toothbrush and Toothpaste – though our resorts provide these little necessities, we do realize some of us prefer our own.
  • Sun block lotion
  • Container for contact lenses – you need you perfect 20/20 vision on any holiday even if you can only get it with a little help.
  • Lens cleaning liquid
  • Extra glasses
  • Moisturizer

Health

General health items

  • Prescription medicine – your health is most important even on vacation
  • Condoms – these are hard to find in some places
  • Insect repellent – mosquitoes are sometimes a little close for comfort and we know sharing is good but not when it comes to diseases such as malaria and dangue

Pills, tablets and medicines

  • Water purifying tablets – unless you’re willing to spend a bomb on mineral water, we recommend these nifty tablets. Maybe they don’t taste so good but they definitely keep you hydrated and safe
